Gilbertsville Road over Branch of Minister Creek Bridge Replacement

Overview

PennDOT plans to replace the bridge that carries Gilbertsville Road (S.R. 4040) over a Branch of Minister Creek in Douglass Township, Montgomery County.  The existing single-span reinforced concrete slab bridge is in poor condition and was constructed in 1938. 

The proposed construction includes replacing the existing bridge with a slightly longer and wider bridge on the same general alignment. It I anticipated the proposed bridge would include two 11-foot lanes and two 5-foot shoulders.  Additional construction includes the replacement of guide rail and guide rail end treatments, approach pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, and new pavement markings and signing.

During construction, the portion of Gilbertsville Road will be closed to all traffic.  Drivers will be directed to a detour route that uses Maugers Mill Road, North Charlotte Street, and Big Road.
