Ramp Closures Scheduled at Route 22/322 Clarks Ferry Bridge Repair Project in Reed Township, Dauphin County

11/22/2023

Traffic will be detoured from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM weekdays through Feb. 14, 2024

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that closures are scheduled for the ramp from southbound Route 147 to westbound Route 22/322 at the Route 22/322 Clarks Ferry Bridge in Reed Township, Dauphin County. The ramp must be closed so repairs can be made to the bridge piers.

Weather permitting, closures will occur from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM weekdays beginning Monday, December 4. The closures are expected to continue during those hours through February 14, 2024.

A detour will be in place. Southbound Route 147 travelers should take eastbound Route 22/322 to the Route 325/Mountain Road Exit, then take the ramp from Route 325/Mountain Road to westbound Route 22/322.

This work is part of a project that consists of replacing existing bridge deck joints with a new bridge expansion joint system, strengthening a pier cap, and other miscellaneous construction from just north of the Route 147 interchange to just south of the ramp to Route 849.

Short-term lane restrictions will continue on the bridge, as needed. No lane closures are permitted on eastbound Route 22 from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and on westbound Route 22 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. At least one lane of traffic will be open in each direction when the work zone is active. No traffic restrictions will be in place during major holidays and Penn State home football games.

All work is expected to be completed by August 30, 2024.

JVI, Inc., of York Springs is the contractor on this $1,927,570 project.
