Bridge Replacement Project to Begin on Maple Shade Road in Lancaster County

05/02/2024

Bridge will be closed, and traffic detoured

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin on Maple Shade Road (Route 2014) in Lancaster County. The bridge spans Cooper Run between Cooper Drive and Rosedale Road in Colerain Township.

Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, May 20. The bridge will be closed. A detour will be in place using Route 472, Noble Road (Route 2009) and Bell Road (Route 2013).

This project consists of a box culvert replacement, full depth reconstruction of the bridge approaches and new guide rail.

This work is part of a contract to replace three bridges. In addition to the bridge on Maple Shade Road, the Route 741 (Strasburg Road) bridge spanning Eshleman Run in Paradise Township, and Route 2031 (Walnut Run Road) over Walnut Run in Strasburg Township, will be replaced. Work on the Route 741 bridge is underway and will be completed before work begins on the Maple Shade Road bridge. The Walnut Run Road bridge will be replaced this summer.

Doli Construction Corporation, of Chalfont, PA, is the prime contractor on this $2,020,305 project. Work is expected to be completed by September 4, 2024.
