Embankment Failure to Reduce a Portion of Route 187 to a Single Lane in Wilmot Township, Bradford County

10/05/2023

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a portion of Route 187, located along Sugar Creek, will be reduced to a single lane in Wilmot Township, Bradford County, due to the increased movement at an existing embankment failure.

On Thursday, October 12, 2023, Route 187 will be reduced to a single lane between 0.5 miles northwest of Coyle Road (T-412) and 1.25 miles southeast of Route 2003 (Grant Hill Road). Traffic will be controlled by two self-regulated stop signs at each end of the lane restriction. The long-term lane closure will remain for an undetermined length of time.

At this time, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), District 3, is actively monitoring the embankment to develop plans for stabilization. Motorists should be alert, watch for changing traffic patterns, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicles, and drive with caution.
