​Montoursville, PA – Motorists who travel Route 220 in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, are advised that the bridge replacement and rehabilitation project continues next week. This project replaced the northbound structure carrying Route 220 over the Fourth Street off ramp and rehabilitated northbound structures over Antlers Lane and the Lycoming Valley Railroad during the 2023 construction season. The 2024 construction season will replace the southbound structure carrying Route 220 over the Fourth Street off ramp and rehabilitated southbound structures over Antlers Lane and the Lycoming Valley Railroad.

Week of March 25

• The week of March 25, 2024, the contractor will continue placing road signs and installing highway lighting along the Route 220 northbound and southbound lanes in preparation for construction. Motorists can expect single lane closures where work is being performed during off peak hours. 

 
Week of April 1 – April 10

• Starting the week of April 1, 2024, the contractor will remove the guide rail in preparation to install the movable median barrier as well as continue to place signage throughout the work zone. Motorists can expect single lane closures where work is being performed.
• Northbound traffic will be shifted to the paved shoulders during the week.

 
UPDATE: April 11 (Traffic change)

• On Thursday, April 11, 2024, motorists traveling in both directions will be traveling on the northbound side of the highway. A movable barrier system will separate the north and southbound traffic. This barrier system will be moved daily to ensure two lanes of travel northbound for the morning commute and two lanes southbound for the afternoon commute. During these times, the opposing direction of traffic will be restricted to one lane.
• The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph throughout the work zone.

 
NEW: April 15

• On Monday, April 15, 2024 through Saturday, April 20, 2024, the Route 220 northbound exit ramp to Route 2014 (Fourth Street) will be closed while the contractor removes the existing structures. A detour using Route 220 northbound, Route 15 northbound, Foy Avenue, Dewey Avenue, and Fourth Street, will be in place for the duration of the closure. The exit ramp will be reopened when the structure is removed.
• Motorists are advised that the exit ramp is schedule to be closed for five days mid-summer while the new beams are installed for the new structure. Dates will be provided closer to the closure dates.

 
Motorists can expect traffic to be controlled by the moveable barrier system until Fall 2024.  

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays, watch for changing traffic patterns, and drive with caution in the area. Motorists should approach crossovers with caution in the work zone.

Susquehanna Valley Construction Corporation is the prime contractor on this $18 million, multi-year bridge improvement project.

The southbound structures are scheduled to be completed by fall of 2024.
