Intersection Improvement Project to Begin on Route 42 in Hemlock Township, Columbia County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that an intersection improvement project at the intersection of Route 42 (Mall Boulevard) and Route 4003 (Frosty Valley Road) is set to begin next week in Hemlock Township, Columbia County.

On Monday, April 1, 2024, the contractor Don E. Bower, will begin Phase I of the project. Motorists can expect two lanes of traffic operating on the northbound side Mall Boulevard while the contractor performs work on the southbound side. During Phase II, traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of Mall Boulevard while the contractor performs work on the northbound side. During Phase III, traffic will return to their original lanes while the contractor completes work for the turn lanes in the middle of the intersection.

Work on this project will be performed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  

Don E. Bower is the prime contractor for this intersection improvement project which will include the installation of a traffic signal. Work on the project will include road widening and addition of turn lanes. The project is expected to be completed in June of 2024, weather permitting. Hemlock Township is the sponsor of this project.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution through the work zone.
