Construction Project Continues Next Week in Mansfield Borough, Tioga County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised a two-year bridge rehabilitation project continues next week on Routes 6 and 2005 (Main Street) in Tioga County.

The Week of Sunday, May 12
Night work will begin on Route 6 between North Academy Street and Railroad Street and on Main Street between East Main Street and Route 1002 (East Elmira Street).

Work includes utility relocation and drainage improvements. Motorists can expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is being performed. Work will be performed between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Work on the ADA ramps throughout the business district will continue. Work will be performed between the hours of 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM. There will be minimal impact to traffic while work is being performed at these locations.

Future Detour
A westbound detour for bridge work is anticipated to be in effect Monday, June 10, 2024, through mid-August 2024.  Eastbound traffic will continue to travel through the work zone. Work in the central business district will be completed during the overnight hours.

Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this $7.2 million mill and resurface project of Route 6 and Route 2005. Work on this project includes milling and resurfacing 0.5 miles of Route 6 between the Tioga River and Swan Street in Mansfield Borough and 3.8 miles of Route 2005 (Main Street) between Decker Street in Richmond Township and East Main Street in Mansfield Borough. Additional work includes drainage improvements, utility relocations, construction of ADA ramps, and rehabilitation and deck preservation of the bridge that carries Route 6 over the Tioga River in Mansfield Borough. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in 2025 and includes a winter shut down.
