Resurfacing Project Continues This Week on Routes 44 and 3003 in Lycoming County

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that a roadway and bridge replacement project continues on Routes 44 (Main Street) and 3003 (Main Street/River Road) in both directions in Jersey Shore Borough and Porter, Piatt, and Nippenose townships in Lycoming County.

The week of Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the contractor, HRI Inc., will perform miscellaneous construction work throughout the project area including adjusting manhole covers, ADA ramp adjustments, and preparation work for the bridge replacement project over Lawshe Run. Work will take place during daylight hours.

Long-Term Closure

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Route 44 (North Main Street) will be closed in both directions at the Jersey Shore Borough / Paitt Township line, while the contractor begins work to replace the bridge that carries North Main Street over Lawshe Run.

A detour using Route 220, Route 3027 (Thomas Street), and Allegheny Street, will be in place for the duration of the bridge replacement.

HRI. Inc. is the prime contractor for this $4,992,927 roadway resurfacing project.  Work on this project includes mill and resurface of approx. 1.0 mile of roadway on Routes 44 and 3003 including a portion of the on and off ramps of Route 220 at Main Street, guide rail upgrades, drainage upgrades, sewer line relocation, ADA curb ramps, and pavement markings. Additional work on this project includes bridge replacement, bridge deck repairs, neoprene strip seal glad replacement and epoxy overlay. These bridges span over Lawshe Run, over Route 220 and over the Susquehanna River.  Work on this project is expected to be completed in late October 2024.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for lane changes, and drive with caution through the work zone.
