Harrisburg, PA – Motorists traveling in south central Pennsylvania this coming weekend are advised southbound interstate 83, including the ramp to Interstate 283, will be closed in the Harrisburg region due to scheduled road work. This work is expected to be performed Friday night through Monday morning.
Southbound Interstate 83 and the ramp to Interstate 283 will be close so a contractor can mill, pave and perform bridge repairs between Exit 47 (Route 322 East/Hershey/Eisenhower Blvd.) and Exit 45 (Paxton Street/Bass Pro Dr.).
Weather permitting, this work will begin at 8:00 PM Friday, August 11, and is expected to be completed by 6:00 AM Monday, August 14.
Detours will be in place for southbound I-83 and southbound I-283.
Motorists traveling south on I-83 should take Exit 47. Those continuing south on I-83 should bear right at the ramp to Paxton Street to access southbound I-83.
Those accessing southbound I-283 should proceed past the Paxton Street ramp on Eisenhower Boulevard, continue to the signalized intersection with Route 441, then turn left to access I-283.
