Nighttime Lane Restrictions to Begin Sunday on I-83 at Queen Street (Route 74) in York County

Crews to begin prep work for repair project

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that nighttime lane restrictions will begin this Sunday on Interstate 83 at Queen Street (Route 74) in York Count so crews can prepare the damaged Queen Street bridge for a repair project.

Weather permitting, lane restrictions will be in place in both northbound and southbound directions on I-83 from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the nights of Sunday, September 24, through Thursday, September 28, and the following week, Sunday, October 1, through Thursday, October 5.

This project includes removal of the damaged girders and the sidewalk and deck sections above the girders, steel repairs throughout the structure, new joints on both sides of the bridge, new girders, sidewalk and deck, minor paving and minor work to the ramps.

Work next week includes lead abatement, demolition prep and paving one of the temporary ramps that will be used during future weekend closures.

Updates will be issued prior to any closures associated with the repair project.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.
