Short-Term Traffic Stoppages Next Week for Overhead Sign Removal on WB Route 22, EB Route 22/322 near I-81 in Harrisburg

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that overnight traffic stoppages will take place next week for overhead sign removal on Route 22 near the Interstate 81 interchange in the City of Harrisburg, Dauphin County.

Weather permitting, overhead sign removal will occur on WB Route 22 and EB Route 22/322 in Harrisburg approaching I-81 Wednesday and Thursday night, November 8 and 9, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning. This work will require overnight periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages.

This work is part of a project that includes bridge preservation work, approach pavement work, sign and sign structure replacements, and other miscellaneous construction on I-81 from Progress Avenue in the City of Harrisburg to the Susquehanna River at the George N. Wade Bridge in Susquehanna Township, and on Route 22 from Elmerton Avenue to about 0.5 miles north of I-81 in the city.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.

Deblin, Inc., of Mechanicsburg, PA, is the prime contractor on this $9,884,046 project.
