Contractor to remove old overhead sign footers between Elmerton Ave. and Linglestown Rd.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today there will be traffic restrictions during daylight hours beginning tomorrow on Route 22 between Elmerton Avenue and Route 39 (Linglestown Road) in Dauphin County so a contractor can remove the concrete footers of old overhead sign structures. This work will continue as needed for the next two-to-three weeks.

Weather permitting, this work will be performed in both directions of Route 22 from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM beginning Wednesday, March 20. There will be short-term lane closures.

This work is part of a project that includes bridge preservation work, approach pavement work, sign and sign structure replacements, and other miscellaneous construction on I-81 from Progress Avenue in the City of Harrisburg to the Susquehanna River at the George N. Wade Bridge in Susquehanna Township, and on Route 22 from Elmerton Avenue to about 0.5 miles north of I-81 in the city.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones for their safety as well as for the safety of the road crews.

Deblin, Inc., of Mechanicsburg, PA, is the prime contractor on this $9,884,046 project.
