Postponed: Weekend Closure for Pipe Replacement on Route 15 in Adams County

04/19/2024

Route 15 to be detoured next weekend, weather permitting

Harrisburg, PA – The weekend closure that was expected to begin this evening on northbound and southbound Route 15 in Adams County has been postponed until next weekend. The closure was scheduled so a pipe could be replaced just south of the Steinwehr Avenue Exit near Gettysburg.

Weather permitting, this work will now be performed from 9:00 PM Friday, April 26, through 6:00 AM Monday, April 29. A detour will be in place.

Northbound traffic will exit at Welty Road in Maryland just south of the PA line then proceed north on Old Gettysburg Road/Emittsburg Road to Route 15 north of the closure. Southbound traffic should exit at the Steinwehr Avenue exit, then proceed south on Emittsburg Road/Old Gettysburg Road to Route 15 just south of the PA line. Flaggers will be on hand at Welty Road to assist traffic movement at the southern end of the detour route.

This work is part of a 14.8-mile pavement preservation project that includes diamond grinding, milling and overlaying ramps and shoulders, guide rail replacement, pipe replacement, and other miscellaneous activities on Route 15 in Freedom, Cumberland, Mounty Joy and Straban townships, Adams County.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 8,318,599 project. All work is expected to be completed by February 19, 2025.
