PennDOT Closing Route 6011 (Green Ridge Street Bridge) in Scranton, Lackawanna County

Dunmore, PA – PennDOT will be closing the Route 6011 (Green Ridge Street) bridge between Main Avenue and Nay Aug Avenue in Scranton on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30 to begin demolition of the former Keen's Floral Building.

Throughout the project, two lanes of traffic will be maintained with the exception of lane restrictions, as necessary. In addition, a pedestrian bridge will be constructed and remain in place on the upstream side of the river throughout the project.

The bridge replacement project will be ongoing through 2026. A local detour will be in place as follows for the above closure.

From Main Avenue:

  • Follow Main Avenue north;
  • Turn right onto Market Street;
  • Turn Right onto Nay Aug Avenue; and
  • Turn Left onto Green Ridge Street

From Green Ridge Street:

  • Turn right onto Nay Aug Avenue;
  • Turn left onto Market Street; and
  • Turn left onto Main Avenue.

When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
