In collaboration with PennDOT and the FHWA, the STIC hosts a Local Government Safety Seminar on July 19, 2017, at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. The event was designed to educate local government officials about roadway safety planning, proven safety solutions and where to find funding and programs to help address safety issues for local roadways.
Pennsylvania receives STIC Incentive Program funding for the PennSTART project and the GRS-IBS Bridge Specification Update (see 2018 for more information).
- The STIC receives a 2017 STIC Excellence Award for its ongoing efforts to train local governments on innovative and efficient ways to improve their local road networks. Sponsored in partnership between the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Innovation Initiative and the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Center of Accelerating Innovation, this annual award recognizes STICs that have made a significant impact toward fostering a strong culture of innovation.

On November 14, 2019, the STIC participates in the PennDOT Regional Innovation Day held at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. In addition to presentations, the event also features an Innovation Fair, which showcases various STIC and homegrown innovations from across the state.
