PennDOT/BPD-I Set to Begin I-80 Nescopeck Creek Bridges Construction in Luzerne County

Dunmore, PA – Motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bridging Pennsylvania Developers I (BPD-I) will begin pre-construction activities for the I-80 Nescopeck Creek Bridges Project in preparation for the start of demolition and construction of the two bridges carrying eastbound and westbound Interstate 80 over Nescopeck Creek in Black Creek Township, Luzerne County.

​On or about April 25, 2024, the construction contractor, Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC), and Major Bridge Subcontractor, Wagman Heavy Civil, will begin the first of four construction stages to be completed in the Fall of 2027. Initial activities will include the cutting of trees along Route 3016 (Tank Rd) and Interstate 80 through May 15, 2024.

Motorists can expect two (2) lanes of traffic to be maintained in both eastbound and westbound lanes, with the exception of limited lane closures, which will occur during off-peak hours.

This project is part of the ongoing PennDOT Major Bridges P3 ProgramBridging Pennsylvania Developers – I (BPD-I) is led jointly by Shikun & Binui Ltd and Macquarie Capital as Lead Project Developers and Equity Members. The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) joint venture (JV) consortium includes the design & construction expertise of S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA) and FCC Construction. S&B USA Construction is the construction arm of Shikun & Binui Ltd and is also the parent company of Fay, S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA), one of the four BPC Major Bridge subcontractors. Other Major Bridge subcontractors include the H&K Group (Skippack, PA), Kokosing Construction Company (Pittsburgh, PA), Wagman Heavy Civil (York, PA), and Lead Designer, Michael Baker International (Pittsburgh, PA).

When encountering a work zone, please drive the posted speed limit, turn on your headlights, pay close attention to signs and flaggers, and avoid all distractions. In high-traffic locations, motorists are encouraged to use both lanes of travel to the merge point and take turns merging into the open lane.
